AITX Community & NVIDIA NemoClaw Hackathon
AITX Community is partnering with NVIDIA for a hands-on NemoClaw hackathon focused on building real autonomous agent applications. Participants will use NemoClaw, NVIDIA Agent Toolkit, and Nemotron models to build agents that do more than chat: they should take action, coordinate tools, and produce a working demo by the end of the event.
This is built for AI engineers, builders, founders, researchers, and technical operators who want to experiment with the next generation of agentic systems.
You do not need to be an expert in NemoClaw before arriving, but you should be comfortable building quickly and shipping a demo.

Howdy! The State of AI in Texas Report (STAR) has been finalized.
AITX Community and UT School of Law is excited to hear what the community has to say! By mapping the AI landscape and understanding stakeholder interactions, we hope to identify key businesses involved with AI development in Texas.
And by learning about AI product usage and how to support needs of new AI developers, we aim to provide a report that will both inform smart AI policy and serve as a guide for businesses on AI development.

What: This summer, Austin AI Hub is co-hosting Call for Code AI: United Against Trafficking, a global hackathon in partnership with UN Human Rights and Call for Code AI. The mission: build AI tools that detect, disrupt, and respond to human trafficking. Hackathon projects are stronger when you're not building alone, so we're getting builders in one room before the deadline.

COMMUNITY STORIES
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and Coherent CEO Jim Anderson announced a strategic partnership that will significantly expand AI manufacturing capabilities in Texas. The collaboration is set to create substantial high-tech employment opportunities as the AI industry experiences explosive growth. This move positions Texas as a central player in the national AI manufacturing ecosystem.
Why it matters: As AITX continues to expand its AI-driven security solutions, the growth of AI manufacturing infrastructure in Texas could create valuable partnership opportunities and strengthen the regional tech talent pool.

Texas is being positioned as a major hub in the national AI manufacturing landscape through this collaboration
UT Law School Dean Bobby Chesney is implementing new AI policies designed to prevent generative AI from eroding students' development of essential legal skills. The updated approach emphasizes Socratic-style questioning and treating classroom time as a guaranteed AI-free learning environment, while still ensuring students learn AI skills.
Why it matters: This represents one of the first major policy shifts by a leading law school to balance AI adoption with preserving fundamental skill development-a challenge facing educational institutions across all disciplines.
Need to know:
Dean Robert 'Bobby' Chesney issued a Tuesday memo calling for faculty to emphasize Socratic-style questioning to ensure students engage directly without AI assistance
Classroom time is now positioned as 'the sole context in which a professor can be certain' a student is learning without AI intervention
The policy aims to balance two goals: having students 'do the hard work in the first instance themselves' while still ensuring they develop necessary AI skills
Homa, an AI-powered homebuying platform, just launched in Texas, letting buyers tour homes, draft offers, and manage escrow without a human agent while keeping most of the buyer-side commission as a closing credit.
Why it matters: This is AI moving from productivity sidekick to licensed operator in a high-stakes, heavily regulated transaction, and it is happening first in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.
Need-to-know:
Buyers typically get 2% back at closing, which they can use to cut closing costs, boost their cash position, or buy down their mortgage rate.
The AI is trained on state-specific real estate law and the same coursework agents use for licensing, and it now covers buyers anywhere in Texas.
Local pushback is already loud, with agents in the comments questioning whether software can legally do the advising work that unlicensed human assistants cannot.
