Austin Energy has launched a state-of-the-art AI system to detect wildfires and other fires across the city, making Austin the first in Texas to fully deploy such technology.
Why it matters: This initiative showcases practical AI applications in public safety and emergency response, potentially saving lives and property.

System uses 26 HD cameras at 13 locations, covering the entire Austin area
AI detects smoke and fires, often before the first 911 call

The Mark Cuban Foundation, partnering with the Dallas Mavericks, is offering a free AI bootcamp for high school students in North Texas this November.

This week, we are spotlighting another one of the speakers from the last San Antonio meetup: Matvei Popov.
Here is his message to the community:
Hello my name is Matvei! I am a graduating Senior at Trinity University, I am also currently a research intern at InstaDeep. I'm interested in everything related to AI research and development. My work in AI spans from developing state-of-the-art state-space models for large-scale genomics modelling to innovative approaches in image generation with diffusion and autoregressive models, watermarking, and 3D animation. I am excited to be a part of the AITX community and to meet everyone! Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any inquiries!
