  • Where: Microsoft Office Houston 750 Town and Country Blvd #1000 · Houston, TX

  • What: Join MongoDB and Microsoft experts as we explore how MongoDB Atlas on Azure supports the next generation of AI systems, especially those driven by agentic architecture.

  • When: Wednesday, July 16 | 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM CST

  • Where: Capital Factory 701 Brazos St · Austin, TX

  • What: The session would explore key challenges, security best practices, and innovative approaches to ensuring trustworthy agent interactions within AI ecosystems. Also we will discuss the upcoming trends around protecting MCP servers as well as the initiates by certain vendors on the space of Agentic Authentication.

  • When: Thursday, July 10 | 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM CST

  • Where: Atlassian 1401 E 5th St. building 2 · Austin, TX

  • What: Atlassian is generously hosting this low-key gathering where we’ll create space to share experiences, talk through career challenges, and support one another in navigating the unique dynamics of our field.

  • When: Thursday, July 10 | 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM CST

  • Where: WeWork Office Space 10900 Stonelake Blvd Building 2, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78759 · Austin, TX

  • What: This session will explore OAuth’s evolution to meet this challenge. We'll examine how emerging standards and extensions — such as Resource Server Metadata, Pushed Authorization Requests (PAR), Token Exchange, and proof-of-possession approaches like DPoP and mTLS — are enabling secure, context-driven interactions for AI agents.

  • When: Wednesday, July 16 | 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM CST

  • Where: Capital Factory 701 Brazos St, 16th Floor · Austin, TX

  • What: Generative AI unlocks remarkable capabilities such as transcribing speech to text, creating personalized assistants, and composing multilingual essays. But building a successful GenAI product is not just about what your model can do. It depends heavily on how you deploy it. The difference between a cost-effective solution and a budgetary black hole often comes down to infrastructure decisions.
In this talk, we will share practical strategies for right-sizing your infrastructure to match your GenAI use case, striking the right balance between performance and cost. Then, we will dive into a hands-on demo showing how to deploy an open-source LLM with Ollama on a self-managed Kubernetes cluster. This live walkthrough will be accompanied by a reproducible tutorial so you can replicate the setup on your own time.

COMMUNITY STORIES

Texas has just rolled out a new AI governance law that lays down specific requirements for healthcare service providers—talk about a game-changer! This could dramatically impact how AI is used in healthcare across the state, ensuring both innovation and accountability.

Why it matters: This law positions Texas as a leader in responsible AI governance within the healthcare sector, potentially setting the stage for national standards..

Need-to-know:

  • The new governance law includes strict regulations for healthcare AI applications.

  • Providers must comply with enhancements to patient data transparency and security.

  • This law aims to ensure ethical AI practices while promoting innovation.

OpenAI just inked a $30 billion data center deal with Oracle—securing 4.5 gigawatts of power capacity to fuel the Stargate initiative, a $500B AI infrastructure play aimed at building massive compute for advanced models (and potentially AGI).

Why it matters: This single deal equals one-fourth of the U.S.’s total operational data center power. And it’s centered heavily in Texas, where Oracle is already building a site in Abilene and scouting more.

Need-to-know:

  • Oracle becomes the largest cloud infra builder/operator, according to CTO Larry Ellison.

  • New data centers are planned across Texas, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, with possible expansion into NM, GA, OH, and PA.

  • Oracle pledged $7B to Stargate and will spend $25B more in capex next year.

  • 4.5 GW = enough energy to power nearly 4 million homes.

A new report says President Trump is weighing executive action to guarantee power for AI and data centers—a move that could turbocharge development in the Permian Basin.

Why it matters: With AI compute demand exploding, traditional power grids are lagging. The Permian’s abundant natural gas, water, and land make it a prime target for behind-the-meter (BTM) energy solutions.

Need-to-know:

  • 1 megawatt of power generation = ~$1.4M in equipment

  • Grid operators may take until 2040 to connect new data centers

  • BTM generation avoids delays and keeps control local
