Austin AITX March Meetup Recap

AITX Meetup | March 25, 2025
We had 6 great demoes at our last meetup. Let’s see what they’re about:
TinyMCE offers a powerful WYSIWYG rich text editor that seamlessly integrates into web applications with minimal code requirements. Their platform supports major frameworks including Angular, React, Vue, and WordPress, while providing extensive customization options for developers.
At the meetup, they showcased their new AI Assistant feature, which enhances the editing experience by helping users create, edit, and refine content through intelligent suggestions and automated formatting tools.
CloudHomes is a cutting-edge platform revolutionizing virtual property tours through AI-enhanced visualization technology.
The service allows prospective buyers to explore properties remotely with photorealistic detail, offering a deeply immersive experience far beyond traditional virtual tours.
By integrating advanced algorithms to predict lighting conditions and spatial relationships, CloudHomes provides an unprecedented level of realism that helps buyers make confident decisions without physical visits.
ChadEx by Isaac Chase, Nick Scipione
ChadEx connects brands with users through chat apps. The idea is that users come to these platforms with a problem, and brands can offer solutions through targeted ads. They emphasized that this approach is becoming more popular since chat apps can provide a cost-effective way for brands to reach potential customers.
Voice Agent for SMBs by Mando Gomez
Mando built a lot of systems previously for X and Amazon. Now he is focused on building voice agents for small businesses.
Terminal builds solutions that provide yard operators with full visibility and control over critical transportation assets in real-time using computer vision. Terminal promotes a safer, more efficient, and transparent global supply chain.
CloudShip is a specialized productivity tool that uses intelligent agents to automate critical DevOps and infrastructure engineering tasks.
The platform streamlines workflows by handling infrastructure cost scanning, vulnerability identification, and Jira integration without manual intervention. With features specifically tailored to DevOps challenges, CloudShip helps technical teams reclaim time for innovation rather than maintenance.

COMMUNITY STORIES
Virginia's governor has vetoed a major AI regulatory bill while Texas has significantly revised its approach, signaling a shift toward more innovation-friendly AI policies at the state level.
Why it matters: These decisions could shape how Texas positions itself as an AI innovation hub, potentially attracting tech companies seeking regulatory environments that enable growth rather than restrict it.
Need-to-know:
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin vetoed a restrictive "High-Risk AI" bill that would have imposed nearly $30M in compliance costs
Texas Rep. Giovanni Capriglione introduced an overhauled version of his AI governance bill, removing heavy-handed elements
These changes align with the current administration's "AI opportunity agenda" rather than the EU's restrictive regulatory model
Existing laws already provide protections against potential AI harms without stifling innovation
Learn more here.
Texas lawmakers are discussing comprehensive regulations for AI through a bill that would establish an AI council to monitor the technology's development and usage.
Why it matters: How Texas approaches AI regulation could determine its competitiveness in attracting AI businesses while balancing public safety concerns.
Need-to-know:
HB 149 would create an AI Council without rule-making power, focusing instead on ethics and innovation
The bill requires transparency (AI usage disclosures) and bans AI use for illegal activities or discrimination
State agencies would need to justify AI usage and follow specific guidelines for implementation

Energy industry experts gathered in Dallas to address critical challenges facing the Texas power grid amid increasing AI-driven energy demand.
Why it matters: Experts predict Texas's power grid may need to triple in size over the next decade to meet surging demand from data centers and AI technologies.
Need-to-know:
Data centers and AI applications are dramatically increasing electricity consumption
Microgrid technology emerges as a solution for enhanced grid resilience
Industry faces critical workforce shortages across technical roles
Utilities are deploying AI itself for grid management and outage prevention
