  • What: One of the key legal issues currently being debated around Generative AI is whether or not tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney are in violation of copyright, namely, whether the act of using existing artistic content as training data to produce new content is a derivative or transformational use of the training data.

  • The city adopted a Generative AI Standards document, which outlines factors employees must consider when using AI tools, such as public information requests, fact-checking, and risk levels.

  • The Office of Innovation is leading efforts in AI technology training, with over 300 employees receiving instruction on responsible AI usage.

The Texas Titan is making waves this week in the world of AI…

Need-to-know:

  • Emails from Nvidia senior staff reveal that Elon Musk redirected 12,000 H100 GPUs originally slated for Tesla to X and xAI.

  • The diversion of AI chips pushed back Tesla's receipt of over $500 million in GPUs by months, likely delaying the company's AI infrastructure projects.

  • Musk's comments about Tesla's AI spending and chip procurement appear to conflict with the company's actual bookings and forecasts.

  • Critics question whether Musk is fulfilling his obligations to Tesla while running multiple other companies that require his attention and resources.

Internal Nvidia emails reveal that Elon Musk prioritized AI chip shipments to X and xAI over Tesla, diverting 12,000 H100 GPUs and delaying Tesla's receipt of over $500 million in processors.
